Google confirms the Pixel 9 Pro Fold with a teaser video

Engadget

Google has confirmed in a teaser video that its upcoming line of smartphones includes a new foldable model. The company called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold a "foldable phone built for the Gemini era" in its promo tweet, and it even focused on its gen AI chatbot in the video. Similar to the non-foldable Pixel 9 Pro, this model also has a prominent camera bump. Its lenses are arranged vertically near one side of the phone, so the camera bump is mostly there and doesn't take up the whole width of the folded device. A foldable phone built for the Gemini era.

Everything we know--and don't know--about Google's new smart speaker

PCWorld

The cat's out of the bag as far as Google's latest smart speaker goes, with the company essentially confirming the rumored Home successor on Thursday with a coyly worded email containing a snapshot and a video of the unannounced device. Many key details about the new Google smart speaker are still shrouded in mystery, but we can tease out a few facts by studying the official photo and Google's brief teaser video. Well, no duh, but given that Google gives so little away in its teaser video, we might as well notch this one as one of the few certainties. In the brief video, a man on a sofa says "Hey Google, play some music," and four telltale LEDs on the new speaker (speakers, actually, there two of them) light up as the music begins to play. So yes, Google Assistant confirmed.

Chat App LINE Challenges Amazon's Alexa With Its Own AI-Assistant

Forbes - Tech

It's not a stretch to say we'll all be speaking to AI-powered digital assistants in the future. But who will build the assistants we use the most? Till now that battle has been waged by tech giants in e-commerce, search and mobile hardware, through Amazon's Alexa, Google Now and Apple's Siri. Now a popular chat app in Asia is throwing its hat into the ring. LINE, the messaging app owned by South Korea's Naver and with 700 million registered users, wants to take a step beyond smartphones and towards screen-less technology, the company's chief executive, Takeshi Idezawa said at Mobile World Congress (MWC) on Wednesday, with its own digital assistant powered by machine learning. Moving past the smartphone screen is a wise strategy for any tech company these days, even those who were born on mobile.
